Full description:
These beaded fertility dolls were carried by barren women in the hope that they would bear children. Women treated these dolls as if they were children, which prepared them psychologically for motherhood. Called ngoana-seho or khongoana-tsingoana in Sesotho, these dolls were made from gourds or bottles with heads made of clay.
