Three Projects in Need of Your Support Right Now
The Morija Art Centre
Most educational institutions in Lesotho are not required to teach art as part of the national curriculum. To overcome this problem we are working hard to teach young people about art and help them to develop their artistic skills. So far we have established a simple pottery studio but we aim to develop more studios and facilities, so young people and emerging artists have access to a space with equipment and supplies. We want to encourage artists and interested individuals to experiment with different art forms and generally feel free to express their creativity. Help us to build studios, buy equipment and art supplies, conduct artists in residence programs, or plan art projects. If you would like to know more about funding this important project please contact us.
Digitisation of the Archives
The Museum is in possession of a large amount of material unique to Lesotho. We need financial support to assist with digitising these materials, so we can make them available electronically to researchers. If you would like to know more about funding this project please contact us. Read more
Phase II Expansion Project
Phase II will significantly increase the amount of floor space available for archival holdings, museum exhibitions, as well as sales area for books, souvenirs and related material, assist the museum in creating more inter-active displays using modern technology, provide for a large multi-purpose room for multi-media presentations to schools and other groups, allow for the establishment of a Reading Room for researchers, workshops and seminars, small-scale performances, provide additional office and work space for staff and generally make the museum complex more energy efficient. Phase II Expansion Project is projected to cost 6 million rand. To date, commitments of R 1.5 million have been received. If you would like to know more about funding this project please contact us.
